Assisted Collection Service

Did you know that we can provide an assisted collection service if you are not able to put your recycling box, wheelie bin or bin bag out for collection e.g. for example because of disability or illness?

We are committed to increasing the amount of household refuse residents recycle. So that we can help residents take part in our recycling collection services, we provide an assisted collection service.

This service offers other ways of collecting recycling in line with our 'Access to Assisted Collections Service Policy' - see 'Related Documents' for further information.

We provide the assisted collection service if a resident is not able to put recycling out for collection (for example, because of a disability or illness). The 'Access to Assisted Collection Service Policy' sets out who is entitled to this service and is as follows:

We will provide (if asked) an assisted collection if a resident has no other member of the household able to help and is:

  1. Registered as a Blue Badge holder (mobility parking permit holder); or
  2. Not able to put out recycling receptacles because of a disability or illness.

Our aim is to process requests for this service within four weeks of receiving the filled in application. If we decline a request, we will explain why and how to appeal against our decision. Every year we will review who we give this service to.
