Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council

Saved Policies

Under the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, the policies in the adopted Stockport UDP Review were due to expire after a period of three years from the date of their adoption (i.e. after 31 May 2009).

Six months in advance of this date the Council applied to the Secretary of State to save particular policies, and also set out which policies the Council did not wish to retain. A report to Council on 4 December 2008 with regards to the application to the Secretary of State (and associated schedules) is available to view at the bottom of this page.

In a letter of 13 May 2009 Government Office for the North West (GONW) confirmed which policies the Secretary of State has agreed to save. The letter from GONW and schedules of those policies that will be saved (appendix A) and those which will not (appendix B) are available to view at the bottom of this page.

If you have a printed copy of the UDP

A series of replacement pages which show the non-saved policies greyed out are available here. These can be printed and inserted into existing copies of the Stockport UDP Review in replacement of those pages which contain the non-saved policies.
