Development Plan Documents (DPDs), along with the Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS), will make up the statutory development plan for Stockport.
DPDs must be in conformity with the RSS and wider government policy, and each DPD will be subject to an independent examination by the Planning Inspectorate who's recommendations will be binding on the Council.
Over time, DPDs will replace the saved UDP Review which is the current development plan for the borough. Production of the following DPDs is currently underway or programmed to begin within the next year.
