The Grade I listed Hall has been described as one of the four best timber framed houses in the country, and is set amongst 70 acres of parkland.
The Hall is extremely well used by school groups, hosts a range of events including concerts and open air theatre and can be booked for weddings and conferences. Supported by an active Friends group who arrange task days within the park, there is great potential for the site to be used and enjoyed more widely by all sections of the community across the Borough and beyond.
Stockport Council has been successful in securing £67,200 from the Heritage Lottery Fund towards drawing up plans for repairs and improvements to Bramall Hall.
The council can now progress to the second stage and is developing detailed proposals to secure a further £932,600 to conserve and transform the hall for the benefit of residents and visitors.
The £1m project aims to transform Bramall Hall and Park into a regionally important heritage site, improving access and providing enjoyment and learning opportunities for members of the community and visitors.
Conservation of the Grade I listed hall and estate buildings, improved access, developing the education and events programme and works to the walled garden and stable block, will all be undertaken as part of the project.
On the 27th April 2012 a consultation event took place in Bramhall village marking the end of an extensive public consultation.
