Alternate Education Provision

Local Authorities must offer suitable education at school, or otherwise, for pupils of compulsory school age who are otherwise out of school and/or not gaining qualifications.

Out-of-school education is often referred to as alternative provision.  This would be based on the needs of the child and may be provided through a variety of routes, one of them being pupil referral units (PRUs).
