Contact Your Council

Stockport Council offers a convenient way for the public to access a range of Council services using information and advice on our web pages, facilities to report online as well as email and telephony options.

The pages on this website contain all the information and advice residents, businesses and visitors to the borough need to help them with their enquiries, and with our online facilities to report, pay, find or apply for services we are making it easier to contact us 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Telephone lines are open 8.00am until 6.00pm Monday to Friday (subject to extended /limited hours on certain lines).

If you would like to contact the Council about a particular service, you can find their contact details on pages throughout the website. Please use the Search facility at the top of each web page, A to Z Index or Council Services to find further information.

Stockport Direct Centre

The Stockport Direct Centre in the town centre provides face-to-face access for customers, offering advice and information on a variety of Council services 8.30am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday and is located at Fred Perry House, Edward Street, Stockport SK1 3UR.

The following services are available during opening hours:

  • Reception facility
  • General Enquiry point
  • Internal telephone access to the Contact Centre
  • Enquiry points to deal with more complex Council Tax and Council Tax benefits enquiries
  • Self-service payment machines to make payments for Council services
  • Internet access to Council services

Stockport Local Direct Centres

Stockport Council also operates 12 Stockport Local Direct Centres around Stockport, the majority of which are located in libraries, where people can get advice on Council services, benefits, tax credits, consumer problems, money matters, health issues, and housing problems.
