At its meeting on 14th June 2010, the Council's Executive agreed to consult on the closure of Offerton School. Consultation is now underway and the closing date is Wednesday 13 October 2010. We would like to hear as many views as possible.
In April 2010 two petitions were received by the Council from residents in Offerton requesting abolition of the Offerton Park Parish Council. The petition was signed by approximately 14% of the electorate of the Parish Council. Under the Provisions of the 2007 Act the Council are required to respond to this petition by carrying out a Community Governance Review.
The Council will be inviting initial submissions from residents, local businesses and community groups from 5th July until 26th July 2010 about what arrangements they feel should be in place that will allow them to engage with the governance of the area.
Taking account of the responses it receives, the Council will then develop proposals on the future governance arrangements.
There will then be a second consultation period with all interested parties between August and October 2010, including public events and meetings, with final proposals being considered by the Council in December 2010.
Before you complete this online survey please visit the Community Governance Review web pages for information on Offerton Park Parish including general information about the area and what the Parish Council does and how it uses the money you pay into it.
The Association of Greater Manchester Authorities has published a scheme for the establishment of a combined authority for Greater Manchester. This consultation seeks views on this proposal and on the proposed structure, constitution and functions of the new authority.
The consultation will run for a minimum of 12 weeks from 31 March 2010.
In March 2009 Stockport Council secured £1.1 million to build new, or refurbish, 22 play spaces across the borough. We are now asking residents to complete one of our online surveys to help us provide play areas that are challenging and exciting for children and young people, meets the community's needs, and encourages children to experience natural play opportunities.
