On 2nd May 2008, local elections were held with one third of the 63 seats up for election. The Councillors are listed below in their alphabetical order.
The Council is composed of 63 Councillors as follows (as of 5 February 2010) :- Liberal Democrats 37; Labour 12; Conservative 9, Independent Ratepayers 3, Independents and others 2.
Councillors are normally elected for a period of four years and elections usually take place on the first Thursday in May on three out of four years.
