If you have a specific problem
If you have a specific problem please inform the staff on Reception. Where possible they will help you themselves or ask a colleague to assist you. If you feel that your problem has not been dealt with appropriately, or wish to make a formal complaint, please ask to see the Registration Services Manager.
You may wish (or be asked) to put your complaint in writing - this will be necessary if you wish your complaint to be dealt with by the Proper Officer for Registration Matters. The Proper Officer is an officer of the Local Authority for the Registration Service in conjunction with the Registrar General (General Register Office).
If you are still dissatisfied (Official Complaints Procedure)
We very much hope that any problem can be dealt with by our Registration Service staff. However, if you wish, a complaint can be made to the Proper Officer for Registration Matters. Such complaints will need to be made in writing and will be investigated by the Local Authority and / or General Register Office.
