Stockport is home to eight thriving District Centres that offer an appealing blend of local history, modern convenient facilities and traditional high street retailing.

The District Centres are well established, and each holds a particular character of their own - from the rich and interesting industrial heritage of Reddish in the north, to the sophisticated and stylish boutiques of Bramhall in the south; the quaint and attractive Marple Centre in the east, and the delightful historic Cheadle Village in the west.
So if you're visiting, new to the area or just haven't popped down to your District Centre, why not come and see what they have to offer and shop local!
The District Centres are a vital element of the economic, environmental and social fabric of the Borough. Economically, they are home to more than 11,000 retail/service businesses, providing in excess of 3,000 local jobs. The environmental benefits of District Centres are significant.
Many of the Centres are attractive places to shop and, being local, provide environmentally sustainable services to the areas that they serve.
The social importance of the Centres must also not be overlooked. They provide easily accessible locations and services for the community as a whole, but particularly for the less mobile.
They provide a very real sense of local identity, and form a natural and important focus for the local community.
