Food Premises Registration

Food businesses must register with the local authority

EC regulation No. 852/2004 on the Hygiene of Foodstuffs, Article 6 (2) requires food businesses to register with the local environmental health department.

Some businesses will have to apply for approval under EC regulation No. 853/2004.

  • Food businesses must complete a registration form and returned it to Stockport Council Environmental Health Department
  • Registration cannot be refused and there is no charge
  • If you use premises in more than one local authority area, you must register with each authority separately
  • You must tick all the boxes that apply to your business, answer all the questions and give all information requested
  • If you are planning to open a food business within the borough you need to register with Stockport Council 28 days before opening
  • Seasonal businesses operating for a certain period each year should give the dates between which they will be open

Please Note: It is an offence to give information that you know is false. Registration does not take effect until the form is received by the Environmental Health Department.
