Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council

Corporate Procurement

Stockport Council is dependent on contracted provision for approximately £120M (37%) of its budget for goods, works and services.

About £75M is procured externally and £30M from Solutions SK, the Council’s wholly owned company who, sub-contract £11m of their £30m to the private sector.
Value for Money

The Council's priority is to secure the best value for money throughout a large and diverse organisation and ensure the procurement of these external services is as efficient and effective as possible.

Businesses wishing to contract with the Council should have some understanding of the procurement process that operates within the Council and where they can obtain further advice if required.

"Winning the Contract"

Government is launching today an on-line procurement course “Winning the Contract”.  This is a  free resource to help businesses (and in particular SMEs) learn about public procurement and how to bid for public sector contracts. The course can be accessed via the Business Link webpage under related links.
