Stockport Council offers various methods to to pay your Business Rates
The preferred method of payment is Direct Debit.
Direct Debit has never been easier.
You can pay your business rates each month and let your bank do the work for you. We can now offer you a choice of three payment dates: 1st, 15th and 25th.
It's really simple to set up call us on 0161 474 5188, or complete and return the Direct Debit Form.
Pay Online
With the online payments service you can pay your council bills with any of the following types of credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Solo, Visa Electron, Delta).
Telephone Payments
If you have a debit/credit card, payment can be made using our 24 hour payment line (0161 474 4050). You will need your card and your Business Rates account number to hand.
Post Office/Paypoint
Payment can be made at any post office or PayPoint outlet using your Post Office Payment Card.
BACS
Send your payment electronically using the BACS system quoting the Council’s details: Co-operative Bank Plc (08-90-24) account number 61110777. Please remember to quote your Business Rates Account Number.
Post
Cheques should be made payable to Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council and sent to us (Stockport Council, PO Box 4, Stockport, SK1 3FN). Please remember to quote your Business Rates Number on the back of the cheque. Please enclose a stamped addressed envelope if you want a receipt. Please do not send cash through the Post. Cheques must not be Post-dated.
In Person
By cash at the self-service machines located at the Stockport Direct Centre, Stopford House, Piccadilly, Stockport. Opening hours are 08:30 to 17:00 Monday to Friday.
Difficulty in Paying Your Bill?
If you fail to make your Business Rates payment by the due date, you could lose the right to pay by instalments, and you may have to pay the balance immediately. This will often result in extra costs being added to your bill .

In many cases we will be able to help you, and by making an early arrangement you may be able to avoid court proceedings and extra costs being incurred.
