Stockport Road Works Information 30 October 2014

Information on the latest scheduled roadworks taking place in Stockport.


6th March–November: Otterspool Road, Romiley

United Utilities contractors have started works to install a new sewer outfall on Otterspool Road, Romiley, between the junctions with Vale Road and Hurstheads Lane.

These works are due to be completed by November 2014 and will require the use of temporary two-way signals for the duration of the works.


19th March–October: Dialstone Lane, Offerton

Contractors working on behalf of British Telecom have started preliminary diversionary works on relocating fibre optic cables on Dialstone Lane at the junction with Dial Road ahead of the United Utilities flood alleviation scheme.

The BT works will require the use of temporary two-way signals, staffed during peak periods, and side road junction closures of Dial Road and Magda Road for approximately three weeks.

Once the BT plant has been relocated, United Utilities contractors will take possession of the site under the same temporary two-way light traffic management and side road junction closure including Katherine Road and Hollymount Drive, to start the tunnelling operations associated with the installation of the new sewers.

It is expected that this scheme will take up to six months to complete.


6th October - 3rd November: Pennine Road, Hazel Grove

Stockport Council will be resurfacing the footways on Pennine Road, Hazel Grove.  The work will be carried out by our alliance partner J. Cooney Ltd.

Access to properties will be maintained where possible but may be restricted for certain periods as the work progresses. 


7th October – 11th November:  Lymefield Grove, Great Moor
 
Footway works will be undertaken on Lymefield Grove in Great Moor. The work will be carried out by Stockport Council’s wholly owned company Solutions SK.
 
Work is anticipated to start on 7th October 2014 and should take up to five weeks to complete, weather permitting. Access to properties will be maintained where possible but may be restricted for certain periods as the work progresses.


13th October – 17th November:  Swythamley  Road, Cheadle Heath
 
Stockport Council will be resurfacing the footways on Swythamley Road in Cheadle Heath. The work will be carried out by Stockport Council’s wholly owned company Solutions SK.
 
Work is anticipated to start on 13th October 2014 and should take up to five weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Access to properties will be maintained where possible but may be restricted for certain periods as the work progresses.


20th October - 10th November: Moss Lane, Bramhall

Stockport Council will be resurfacing part of the carriageway on Moss Lane, Bramhall from approximately the junction of Foxbench Close to Grove Lane. This work will be carried out by our alliance partner Lafarge/Tarmac Ltd.

To carry out this work it will be necessary to restrict traffic movements with a prohibition of driving (road closure) for through traffic on Moss Lane between 8.30am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday.

During this time a signed diversion will be in operation via Acre Lane and Grove Lane. Access to properties in the working zone will be maintained where possible but may be restricted for certain periods as the work progresses.


20th October - 15th December: Radnormere Drive, Cheadle Hulme

Stockport Council will be resurfacing the footways on Radnormere Drive, from No.1 to The Mere. The work will be carried out by our alliance partner  J. Cooney Ltd.

Access to properties will be maintained where possible but may be restricted for certain periods as the work progresses. 


20th October – 19th December: Station Road, Cheadle Hulme

Contractors working on behalf of Network Rail will be carrying out refurbishment works to the Railway Bridge on Station Road. The works will require temporary multi-way signals.

Works will be carried out overnight 10pm to 6am.


25th - 31st October: Finney Lane, Heald Green

Contractors working on behalf of National Grid Gas will be undertaking works to renew a gas main on Finney Lane, Heald Green between the junctions with Outwood Drive and Daisy Bank Lane. 

These works require the use of two way signals.


27th - 31st October: Buxton Road, Hazel Grove

Contractors working on behalf of United Utilities are carrying out works on Buxton Road, Hazel Grove using temporary traffic lights. 

The works at the entrance to the reservoir will be completed on the 28th October.  The second stage of the works, outside 171 Buxton Road, will commence on the 29th October and will be completed by the 31st October. 

To reduce the traffic impact the lights will be manned at all times during the day and the contractors will monitor the traffic.


27th - 30th October: Georges Road, Heaton Norris

Contractors working on behalf of Network Rail will be undertaking railway bridge works on Georges Road, Heaton Norris from the junction with Wellington Road North to the roundabout at Rooth Street.

These works require road closures between the hours of 10pm and 6am.

Alternative routes will be provided via:-

  • Eastbound Traffic - Travis Brow, Heaton Lane, Wellington Road North
  • Westbound Traffic - George's Road, Travis Brow, Heaton Lane, Wellington Road North
  • Southbound Traffic - Wellington Road North, Leyland Street, Port Street, Great Egerton Street, Travis Brow


27th - 31st October: Longhurst Lane, Marple Bridge

Contractors working on behalf of United Utilities will be undertaking works to replace a water service on Longhurst Lane, Marple Bridge between the junctions with Clement Road and Highfield Road. 

These works will require the use of two-way signals.


27th October - 3rd November: Heaton Moor Road, Heaton Moor

Contractors working on behalf of Stockport Council will be undertaking highway drainage repairs and improvements on Heaton Moor Road, Heaton Moor between the Elizabethan Public House to opposite the Crown Public House.

Temporary two-way signals will be in operation.


27th October - 8th December: Oxford Drive, Woodley

Stockport Council will be resurfacing the footways on Oxford Drive, Woodley from approximately the junction of Wadham Gardens to the cul-de-sac end. The work will be carried out by Stockport Council’s wholly owned company Solutions SK.
 
Access to properties will be maintained where possible but may be restricted for certain periods as the work progresses.


27th October 2014 - 16th February 2015: Dial Park Road, Offerton
 
Stockport Council will be resurfacing the footways in bitmac on Dial Park Road in Offerton. The work will be carried out by Stockport Council’s wholly owned company Solutions SK.
 
Work is anticipated to start on 27th October 2014 and should take up to sixteen weeks to complete, weather permitting. Access to properties will be maintained where possible but may be restricted for certain periods as the work progresses.


28th October - 2nd November: Marple Road, Offerton

Contractors working on behalf of National Grid Gas are undertaking essential gas main replacement works on Marple Road, Offerton at the junction with Bean Leach Road. 

These works will require the use of temporary traffic lights.


29th - 30th October: M60, Stockport

Due to The Highways Agency needing to carry out immediate repairs to a bridge parapet at Junction 27 the M60 will be closed to eastbound traffic overnight from 10.00pm to 6.00am, from Junction 1, Pyramid Roundabout to Junction 25 at Bredbury. 

During this closure all eastbound traffic will be diverted via Travis Brow, Great Egerton Street, Knightsbridge, Great Portwood Street, Portwood Roundabout and Crookilley Way.


29th - 31st October: Osborne Street, Bredbury

Contractors working on behalf of United Utilities will be undertaking urgent works to repair a sewer collapse on Osborne Street, Bredbury between the junctions with Davies Road and Robin Croft. 

These works will require the road to be closed; signed diversion routes will be in place via Kingsway, The Broadway and Stockport Road West.


29th October - 5th November: Gorton Road, Reddish

Contractors working on behalf of Electricity North West are carrying out works near to the entrance to North Reddish Park on Gorton Road, Reddish.

Two-way traffic is being maintained.


29th October - 14th November: Acre Lane, Cheadle Hulme

Contractors working on behalf of National Grid Gas are carrying out an essential gas main replacement on Acre Lane, Cheadle Hulme between the junctions with Moss Lane and Furness Road.

The works will require the use of temporary traffic signals from 29th October 2014 to 2nd November 2014.


3rd - 7th November: Waterloo Road, Central Stockport

Contractors working on behalf of the new Seddon’s Housing Development, on Waterloo Road, Central Stockport, will be undertaking works  to construct a new vehicular entrance to the site. 

These works will require the use of Stop/Go boards during the day, 7.00am to 6.00pm, and temporary traffic lights overnight.


5th - 10th November: Gillbent Road, Cheadle Hulme

Stockport Council will be resurfacing the carriageway at Gillbent Road, Cheadle between the Church Road mini roundabout and The Circuit. The works will be carried out by our alliance partner Lafarge/Tarmac.

Temporary traffic signals will be in use between 9.30am to 3.30pm.


6th - 11th November: Malpas Close, Tatton Close, Birtles Close - Cheadle Hulme

Stockport Council will be resurfacing the carriageways (weather permitting) as listed below:

  • Malpas Close - Scheduled to commence on the 6th November 2014 for 3-4 days
  • Tatton Close - Scheduled to commence on the 6th November 2014 for 4-5 days
  • Birtles Close - Scheduled to commence on the 7th November 2014 for 4-5 days

The above works will be carried out between 8.00am and 5.30pm.

To carry out this work, it will be necessary to restrict traffic movements with a prohibition of driving (road closure). The works will be carried out by our alliance partner Lafarge/Tarmac.

To accommodate local properties/businesses, where possible, we will maintain access to properties throughout, but access may be restricted at certain periods as the work progresses.


10th - 12th November: Daw Bank/King Street West Junction, Stockport

Contractors working on behalf of BT are installing a new fibre cable on Daw bank near the junction with King Street West.

The works are scheduled for two nights between 9pm and 6am on 10th and 11th November and will require near side lane closures, southbound on King Street West and westbound on Daw Bank.
