Stockport Road Works Information

6th March–November: Otterspool Road, Romiley

United Utilities contractors have started works to install a new sewer outfall on Otterspool Road, Romiley, between the junctions with Vale Road and Hurstheads Lane.

These works are due to be completed by November 2014 and will require the use of temporary two-way signals for the duration of the works.


19th March–October: Dialstone Lane, Offerton

Contractors working on behalf of British Telecom have started preliminary diversionary works on relocating fibre optic cables on Dialstone Lane at the junction with Dial Road ahead of the United Utilities flood alleviation scheme.

The BT works will require the use of temporary two-way signals, staffed during peak periods, and side road junction closures of Dial Road and Magda Road for approximately three weeks.

Once the BT plant has been relocated, United Utilities contractors will take possession of the site under the same temporary two-way light traffic management and side road junction closure including Katherine Road and Hollymount Drive, to start the tunnelling operations associated with the installation of the new sewers.

It is expected that this scheme will take up to six months to complete.


14th July – 5th October: Manchester Road, Cheadle

Contractors working on behalf of Stockport Council will be undertaking major carriageway and footway improvement works on Manchester Road, Cheadle, between the junction with Mill Lane up to the border with Manchester at the River Mersey.

Works will require the use of two-way signals.


28th July - 29th August: Carriageway Resurfacing & Footway Repairs Moorland Road

Stockport Council will be resurfacing part of the carriageway and carrying out localised footway repairs on Moorland Road between approximately Woodsmoor Lane (A6 end) and Cedar Road.

This work will be carried out by our alliance partners J. Cooney Ltd & Lafarge/Tarmac Ltd. The first phase of the work is programmed to commence from 28th July 2014 carrying out footway repairs. Work is expected to take up to 4 weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Unfortunately to carry out this work it will be necessary to restrict traffic movements with a prohibition of driving (road closure) for through traffic on Moorland Road from 9am to 5pm daily (Mon-Fri). During this time a signed diversion will be in operation to minimise disruption and allow safe working operations to take place.

Access to properties in the working zone will be maintained where possible but may be restricted for certain periods as the work progresses.

Residents directly affected have received a letter explaining the scope of the works and timescales involved.

Information boards will be erected on site advising road users of the programmed work.

Although some minor disruption is inevitable this will be kept to a minimum by our staff on site.


4th August – 5th September: Church Lane, Marple

Contractors working on behalf of Stockport Council will be undertaking culvert repairs on Church Lane, Marple, between the junctions with Church Street and Brickbridge Lane.  As the majority of the work is located within the footway there will mostly be no impact on the carriageway.  However, during stages of the works two-way signals will be required between the hours of 8.00am to 5.00pm only.


4th – 29th August: Brinnington Rise, Brinnington

Contractors working on behalf of Stockport Council will be undertaking works to install a puffin crossing and footway build outs on Brinnington Rise, Brinnington, outside St Paul’s Church of England Primary School.

These works require the use of temporary traffic signals between the hours of 9.00am and 4.00pm only.



11th August – 2nd September: Hulme Hall Road, Cheadle Hulme

Contractors working on behalf of National Grid are laying new services along Hulme Hall Road from The Hesketh Pub (near Swann Lane) to the junction with Old School Lane.

The works will require temporary two-way traffic signals between 11th – 16th August and then multi-way signals at the junction with Claremont Road and Upton Avenue 18th August to 2nd September.


11th August - 3rd September: Buxton Road, Great Moor 

Contractors working on behalf of National Grid are replacing their pipes on Buxton Road, Great Moor between Corbar Road and Mile End Lane. The works will require a lane closure on the southbound, nearside lane.


11th August – 11th September: Napier Road, Heaton Moor

Contractors working on behalf of Electricity Northwest will be carrying out cable installation from Napier Road onto Heaton Moor Road.

The works will require temporary three-way signals at the junction of Napier Road and Heaton Moor Road from 11th August for approximately one week, then 2-way signals as they move along Heaton Moor Road to the Savoy Cinema.

The works are expected to be completed no later than 11th September.


11th - 29th August 2014: Schools Hill, Cheadle

Contractors working on behalf of Stockport Council will be undertaking highway drainage repairs and improvements on Schools Hill, Cheadle, outside Ladybarn House School, between the junctions with The Downs and Daylesford Road. 

These works will require the use of temporary signals.


18th August - 12th September: Ladythorne Road & Ladybarn Crescent, Bramhall

Contractors on behalf of Stockport Council will be undertaking footway treatment works on the footways on on Ladythorne Road and Ladybarn Crescent in Bramhall. This work is scheduled to begin week commencing 13th August 2014 and is anticipated to take up to two weeks to complete, depending on weather.


19th – 29th August: Moss Lane, Cheadle Hulme

Contractors working on behalf of National Grid are renewing their services from outside 150 Acre Lane to the junction with Moss Lane, Cheadle Hulme.

Works require the use of temporary multi-way signals.



21st – 31st August: Finney Lane, Heald Green

Contractors working on behalf National Grid Gas will be undertaking works to replace/renew a gas main on Finney Lane, Heald Green, between the junctions with Outwood Drive and Irvin Drive. 

Works require the use of two-way signals.


23rd/24th and 30th/31st August: Edgeley Road & Stockport Road in Cheadle Heath

Contractors working on behalf of British Telecom; will be clearing a blockage at the junction with Edgeley Road & Stockport Road in Cheadle Heath. These works will require the following:-

  • ‘Prohibition of Left & Right Turn’ from Stockport Road into Edgeley Road
  • ‘Prohibition of Right Turn’ from Edgeley Road into Stockport Road.
  • Lane closures on Stockport Road.
  • Traffic flow will be maintained for traffic turning left from Edgeley Road into Stockport Road.

The works are scheduled to take place over two consecutive weekends; 23rd/24th & 30th/31st August 2014.

Access to properties in the working zone will be maintained where possible and a signed diversion route will be in place via Stockport Road / Brinksway / Chestergate / King Street West / Shaw Heath / Mercian Way / Edgeley Road.


26th August – 26th September: Windlehurst Road, Marple

Contractors working on behalf of Electricity North West will be working on their cables on Windlehurst Road, Marple from the junction of Hawk Green Road to just pass the junction of Ridge Crescent.

Works will require temporary two-way signals for the first two weeks.



26th August - 8th September: Lisburne Lane, Offerton

Contractors working on the new housing development on the old Dialstone Centre site will be undertaking works to install a sewer connection on Lisburne Lane, between the junctions with Alfreton Road and Blackstone Road.  These works will require the use of temporary traffic signals.


26th August - 9th September: Woodford Road, Bramhall
 
Stockport Council will be carrying out footway treatment works on Woodford Road in Bramhall from approximately the junction of Meadway to the A555 roundabout. This work will be carried out by our Alliance Partner Colas.

These works will require the use of two-way temporary traffic signals between the hours of 9.30am to 3.30pm.


26th - 31st August: Stockport Road, Marple

Contractors working on behalf of Electricity North West will be undertaking cabling works on Stockport Road, Marple between the junction with Elmfield Drive and the Railway Bridge.

Two-way traffic signals will be in operation, between the hours of 9.30am and 3.30pm.


27th – 29th August: Bramhall Lane, Davenport

Contractors working on behalf of United Utilities are installing a service outside 280 Bramhall Lane, Davenport.

Works will require temporary two-way signals between Yew Tree Road and Trinity Gardens.


27th August - 3rd September: Rosslyn Road, Heald Green
 
Stockport Council will be carrying out footway treatment works on Rosslyn Road in Heald Green (full length). This work will be carried out by our Alliance Partner Colas.

Although some minor disruption is inevitable this will be kept to a minimum by our staff on site.


28th - 31st August: Finney Lane, Heald Green
 
Stockport Council will be resurfacing part of the carriageway on Finney Lane from approximately the Heald Green Library to Queensway. This work will be carried out by our wholly owned company Solutions SK.
 
The work will involve removing the existing carriageway surface and applying a new road surface.
 
The work will require the use of  two-way traffic signals from 9.30am to 3.30pm (Thurs & Fri) and 8.00am to 7.00pm (Sat & Sun). Access to properties in the working zone will be maintained where possible but may be restricted for certain periods as the work progresses.

Information boards will be erected on site advising road users of the programmed work.


31st August: Bramhall Lane, Davenport

Contractors working on behalf of British Telecom will be carrying out works to replace a frame and cover in the carriageway on Bramhall Lane, Davenport at the junction with Ashfield Road and The Crescent.

The works will require the use of temporary two-way traffic signals.


1st - 8th September: Church Lane and Peacefield, Marple
 
Stockport Council will be carrying out footway treatment works on Peacefield and Church Lane from approximately the junction of Hibbert Lane to the Canal bridge. This work will be carried out by our Alliance Partner Colas.

Although some minor disruption is inevitable this will be kept to a minimum by our staff on site.


1st - 29th September: Woodville Grove, Reddish

Stockport Council will be carrying out footway reconstruction works on Woodville Grove, Reddish. This work will be carried out by our wholly owned company Solutions SK.

Access to properties will be maintained where possible but may be restricted for certain periods as the work progresses. Although some disruption is inevitable this will be kept to a minimum by our staff on site.


3rd September - 22nd October: Cromley Road, High Lane

Stockport Council will be carrying out footway resurfacing works the full length of Cromley Road, High Lane. The work will be carried out by our Alliance partner J Cooney Ltd.


 7th September: Macclesfield Road, Hazel Grove

Contractors working on behalf of BT are unblocking a duct on Macclesfield Road at the junction of Dean Lane and Mill Lane. The works will require temporary multi-way signals.
