Stockport Road Works Information 24 October 2014

Information on the latest scheduled roadworks taking place in Stockport.


6th March–November: Otterspool Road, Romiley

United Utilities contractors have started works to install a new sewer outfall on Otterspool Road, Romiley, between the junctions with Vale Road and Hurstheads Lane.

These works are due to be completed by November 2014 and will require the use of temporary two-way signals for the duration of the works.


19th March–October: Dialstone Lane, Offerton

Contractors working on behalf of British Telecom have started preliminary diversionary works on relocating fibre optic cables on Dialstone Lane at the junction with Dial Road ahead of the United Utilities flood alleviation scheme.

The BT works will require the use of temporary two-way signals, staffed during peak periods, and side road junction closures of Dial Road and Magda Road for approximately three weeks.

Once the BT plant has been relocated, United Utilities contractors will take possession of the site under the same temporary two-way light traffic management and side road junction closure including Katherine Road and Hollymount Drive, to start the tunnelling operations associated with the installation of the new sewers.

It is expected that this scheme will take up to six months to complete.


3rd September - TBA: Ladybridge Road, Cheadle Hulme

Stockport Council will be carrying out footway repairs on Ladybridge Road between the junction of Twining Brook Road and Regent Close. This work will be carried out by our alliance partner Colas Ltd.

The work is anticipated to commence within the next two weeks. Work is expected to take up to 2 weeks to complete weather permitting.

The works will require the use of temporary traffic controls between 9.30am - 3.30pm.

Access to properties in the working zone will be maintained where possible but may be restricted for certain periods as the work progresses.


6th October - 3rd November: Pennine Road, Hazel Grove

Stockport Council will be resurfacing the footways on Pennine Road, Hazel Grove.  The work will be carried out by our alliance partner J. Cooney Ltd.

Access to properties will be maintained where possible but may be restricted for certain periods as the work progresses. 


7th October – 11th November:  Lymefield Grove, Great Moor
 
Footway works will be undertaken on Lymefield Grove in Great Moor. The work will be carried out by Stockport Council’s wholly owned company Solutions SK.
 
Work is anticipated to start on 7th October 2014 and should take up to five weeks to complete, weather permitting. Access to properties will be maintained where possible but may be restricted for certain periods as the work progresses.


13th October – 17th November:  Swythamley  Road, Cheadle Heath
 
Stockport Council will be resurfacing the footways on Swythamley Road in Cheadle Heath. The work will be carried out by Stockport Council’s wholly owned company Solutions SK.
 
Work is anticipated to start on 13th October 2014 and should take up to five weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Access to properties will be maintained where possible but may be restricted for certain periods as the work progresses.


19th and 26th October: Styal Road, Gatley

Stockport Council will be carrying out resurfacing works on Styal Road, Gatley between the Church Road and Hollyhedge Road junctions.


20th – 26th October: Schools Hill, Cheadle

Contractors working on behalf of National Grid Gas will be undertaking mains renewal works on The Downs in Cheadle and, as part of these works, connection works will be undertaken on Schools Hill, at the junction with The Downs. 

Works will require the use of two way signals on Schools Hill.


20th October - 10th November: Moss Lane, Bramhall

Stockport Council will be resurfacing part of the carriageway on Moss Lane, Bramhall from approximately the junction of Foxbench Close to Grove Lane. This work will be carried out by our alliance partner Lafarge/Tarmac Ltd.

To carry out this work it will be necessary to restrict traffic movements with a prohibition of driving (road closure) for through traffic on Moss Lane between 8.30am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday.

During this time a signed diversion will be in operation via Acre Lane and Grove Lane. Access to properties in the working zone will be maintained where possible but may be restricted for certain periods as the work progresses.


20th October - 15th December: Radnormere Drive, Cheadle Hulme

Stockport Council will be resurfacing the footways on Radnormere Drive, from No.1 to The Mere. The work will be carried out by our alliance partner  J. Cooney Ltd.

Access to properties will be maintained where possible but may be restricted for certain periods as the work progresses. 


20th October – 19th December: Station Road, Cheadle Hulme

Contractors working on behalf of Network Rail will be carrying out refurbishment works to the Railway Bridge on Station Road. The works will require temporary multi-way signals.

Works will be carried out overnight 10pm to 6am.


23rd - 24th October: Hempshaw Lane, Stockport

Stockport Council will be carrying out surface treatment works on Hempshaw Lane in the parking layby outside St Thomas’ Park. This work will be carried out by our Alliance partner Colas.

The work will be carried out between 8.00am and 5.00pm.


24th October: Lancashire Hill, Heaton Norris

Contractors working on behalf of British Telecom will be undertaking works to locate and excavate blockages in existing ducts on Lancashire Hill, Heaton Norris from the junction with Great Egerton Street for approximately 80 meters in a northerly direction.

These works require a Prohibition of Left Turn, at the junction with Great Egerton Street, for traffic heading in a southerly direction along Lancashire Hill.

The works will take place between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

Alternative routes will be provided via Great Egerton Street and Heaton Lane Roundabout.


24th - 28th October: Hyde Road, Woodley

Contractors working on behalf of National Grid, are currently working on site to repair a gas escape outside 211 Hyde Road, Woodley  (between Ashton St and Pennine Rd).

The work requires temporary two-way signals.


25th - 26th October: Carrwood Road, Bramhall

Contractors working on behalf of a new property development will be undertaking sewer connection works on Carrwood Road, Bramhall between the junctions with Carrwood Avenue and Cherry Orchard Close. 

These works will require the use of two way signals.


25th October: Adswood & Bridgehall Lantern Parade

The following roads in Adswood will be closed to traffic for the Adswood & Bridgehall Lantern Parade.

  • Barnfield Road West, Adswood for the full length
  • Eccleston Road, Adswood from the junction with Barnfield Road West to the junction with Ashburton Road
  • Ashburton Road, Adswood from the junction with Eccleston Road to the junction with Rostherne Road
  • Rostherne Road, Adswood from the junction with Ashburton Road to the junction with Culver Road; including Garners Lane, Adswood at the junction with Rostherne Road
  • Culver Road, Adswood for the full length
  • Adswood Road, Adswood from the junction with Culver Road to the junction with Siddington Avenue
  • Siddington Avenue, Adswood for the full length
  • Chelford Grove, Adswood for the full length
  • Wrenbury Crescent, Adswood for the full length

A rolling road closure will be in place between 6.30pm - 8.00pm as per the route plan. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.


25th - 31st October: Finney Lane, Heald Green

Contractors working on behalf of National Grid Gas will be undertaking works to renew a gas main on Finney Lane, Heald Green between the junctions with Outwood Drive and Daisy Bank Lane. 

These works require the use of two way signals.


26th October: Woodford Road, Bramhall

Contractors working on behalf of United Utilities will be undertaking works on a service replacement on Woodford Road, Bramhall between the junctions with Meadway and Holly Road. 

These works require the use of two way signals between the hours of 9.00am and 4.00pm only.


27th October: Newbridge Lane, Portwood

Contractors working on behalf of Electricity North West are excavating trial holes on Newbridge Lane on the bridge between Carrington Road and Welkin Road.

Temporary two-way signals will be in place between 9.30am and 3.30pm.


27th - 30th October: Georges Road, Heaton Norris

Contractors working on behalf of Network Rail will be undertaking railway bridge works on Georges Road, Heaton Norris from the junction with Wellington Road North to the roundabout at Rooth Street.

These works require road closures between the hours of 10pm and 6am.

Alternative routes will be provided via:-

  • Eastbound Traffic - Travis Brow, Heaton Lane, Wellington Road North
  • Westbound Traffic - George's Road, Travis Brow, Heaton Lane, Wellington Road North
  • Southbound Traffic - Wellington Road North, Leyland Street, Port Street, Great Egerton Street, Travis Brow


27th - 31st October: Longhurst Lane, Marple Bridge

Contractors working on behalf of United Utilities will be undertaking works to replace a water service on Longhurst Lane, Marple Bridge between the junctions with Clement Road and Highfield Road. 

These works will require the use of two-way signals.


27th October - 3rd November: Heaton Moor Road, Heaton Moor

Contractors working on behalf of Stockport Council will be undertaking highway drainage repairs and improvements on Heaton Moor Road, Heaton Moor between the Elizabethan Public House to opposite the Crown Public House.

Temporary two-way signals will be in operation.


27th October - 8th December: Oxford Drive, Woodley

Stockport Council will be resurfacing the footways on Oxford Drive, Woodley from approximately the junction of Wadham Gardens to the cul-de-sac end. The work will be carried out by Stockport Council’s wholly owned company Solutions SK.
 
Access to properties will be maintained where possible but may be restricted for certain periods as the work progresses.


27th October 2014 - 16th February 2015: Dial Park Road, Offerton
 
Stockport Council will be resurfacing the footways in bitmac on Dial Park Road in Offerton. The work will be carried out by Stockport Council’s wholly owned company Solutions SK.
 
Work is anticipated to start on 27th October 2014 and should take up to sixteen weeks to complete, weather permitting. Access to properties will be maintained where possible but may be restricted for certain periods as the work progresses.


29th October: Cheadle Road, Cheadle Hulme

Contractors working on behalf of United Utilities will be undertaking works to replace a manhole frame and cover on Cheadle Road, Cheadle Hulme at the junction with Grange Avenue. 

These works require the use of multi-way temporary traffic lights between the hours of 9.30am and 3.30pm only.  The lights will be manned at all times.


31st October - 3rd November: Belmont Way, Heaton Norris

Contractors working on behalf of United Utilities will be undertaking works to clean the sewer on Belmont Way, Heaton Norris from the junction with Lancashire Hill roundabout for approximately 100 meters in a westerly direction.

These works require a road closure from 9.30am on Friday 31st October 2014 through to 6.00am on Monday 3rd November 2014. Belmont Way will remain open to traffic heading in an easterly direction. The road closure will only affect traffic heading in a westerly direction.

Alternative routes will be provided via:-

Lancashire Hill, Great Egerton Street, Heaton Lane, Wellington Road North, Belmont Way.
