Grants Available for Local Community Groups

Community groups based in six areas of Stockport are invited to apply for grants for local projects.

A total of £20,000 in each of the six wards has been provided through a joint initiative from Stockport Council and the Community Development Foundation.  Decisions about awards will be made by Community Panels made up of local people and residents voting at the well-attended ‘You Say, We Pay’ events in six electoral wards in the borough.

Grants of between £250 and £2,500 are available. Last year’s successful applications included improving facilities at an allotment and summer bowling for children. Other examples can be seen on the Community Development Foundation webpage www.cdf.org.uk

The next round of applications will take place during the autumn.  Interested groups are asked to contact their local panel to find out more, including deadline dates for applications and local priorities for funding.

Davenport and Cale Green Community First: Helen Johnson, 9 Cuddington Crescent, Bridgehall, SK3 8LX or phone 476 1262. The application deadline is 10th October.

Edgeley and Cheadle Heath Community First: Aarty Seera, Democratic Services, Town Hall, Stockport, SK1 3XE or phone 474 3210. Application deadline is 12th October.

Manor Community First: Cath Severn at www.manorward.moonfruit.com or phone 456 4350. Application deadline is 7th October. 

Reddish South Community First: Peter Fuller, 5 Sherwood Avenue, Heaton Mersey, SK4 2BP, or email southreddish.stockport@gmail.com  Application deadline is 12th October.

Reddish North Community First: Steve Fox, Democratic Services, Town Hall, Stockport, SK13XE or phone 474 3206. Application deadline is 12th  October.
