Stockport Council is thanking kind-hearted residents and businesses across the borough for their generous donations over the festive period for needy families.
Donations flooded in to the Council’s Early Help and Prevention and Social Care services teams and included food hampers/ parcels, gift bags with toiletries, toys, vouchers/money and pantomime tickets.
Council Family Support Workers and Social Workers then arranged for these donations to be given to families and care leavers from Stockport over the Christmas period.
Councillor Kevin Dowling, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Children and Young People, said: “I would like to thank all the residents, organisations and businesses for their generous donations. It is very heart-warming to see the Stockport community pull together in this way and make a real difference to the lives of less fortunate families over the Christmas period. The generosity was overwhelming and was greatly received by the families.”
