Council Wins Top Apprenticeship Award

17 Sep 2012
Stockport Council has won a much sought after award from the National Apprenticeship Service for being an exemplar employer of apprentices.

The Council has shown its commitment to developing young people’s skills through nearly 200 apprenticeships and has won the Regional Apprenticeship Award for Macro Employer of the Year.

The Council will now progress to the Apprenticeship Awards National Judging Panel for the final stage of the competition. The winners will be announced in November.

The Leader of Stockport Council, Councillor Sue Derbyshire, said: “The Council is delighted to have won this much sought after award. Winning this award highlights our commitment to providing employment opportunities for young people.

“I’m delighted that the Council has been able to take on so many apprentices who have made very positive contributions to the organisation.”
