The Drug Action Team (DAT) is part of the Safer Stockport Partnership. The DAT is responsible for the development of the local drug strategy. The local drugs strategy feeds into the national drugs strategy "Tackling Drugs to Build a Better Britain" - this is a 10-year programme of action to tackle the range of social conditions linked to drug misuse. The main aims of the national and local strategy are:
Young People - Help young people resist drug misuse in order to reach their full potential in society.
Communities - Protect communities from drug related anti-social and criminal behaviour.
Treatment - Enable people to receive treatment for drugs problems and live healthy and crime-free lives.
Availability - Stifle the availability of drugs on our streets.
